2. Experience Fixed and growth mindset guided by theory about mindset of Carol Dweck
Theory U, developed by MIT professor Otto Scharmer, is a transformative leadership and innovation framework. It emphasizes a journey of awareness and consciousness, moving through stages of downloading, seeing, and embodying. The process involves letting go of preconceived notions and opening oneself to new perspectives, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of self and the systems at play. Theory U encourages practitioners to access their highest future potential by connecting to the emerging future through a process of deep listening and co-creation. It is widely used in organizational development, change management, and social innovation to foster profound personal and collective transformation.
A fixed mindset is the belief that one's abilities and intelligence are static traits that cannot be significantly changed. Individuals with a fixed mindset may avoid challenges, give up easily in the face of obstacles, see effort as fruitless, ignore useful feedback, and feel threatened by the success of others.
In contrast, a growth mindset is the belief that one's abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. Those with a growth mindset embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, see effort as a path to mastery, learn from criticism, and find inspiration in the success of others. Developing a growth mindset can lead to increased resilience, motivation, and a willingness to learn from experiences.
